The New Berlin
This intensive immersion experience will expose students to the history, arts, politics, and popular culture of the German capital while challenging them to use and increase German language skills when interacting with local residents of Berlin and visitors from abroad. Experience life in cosmopolitan Berlin, as well as selected cities in the former GDR.
May 11 - June 1, 2019
GER 525: The New Berlin (German Studies major or minor (3 credits); Global Studies or elective credit)
Participation in German language school with other international students;
Tours of landmarks and neighborhoods, museums, galleries;
Readings and group discussion, small group exploration, and research;
Discussion with residents of Berlin.
$3,400 (estimate). Non-refundable $500 deposit due by December 13, 2018.
Program cost includes Creighton tuition and lodging with breakfast; instruction, excursions, events, guest lectures, museum admission, and selected cultural events; public transportation in Berlin, day-trips; travel insurance and instruction fee.
Instructor consent (application and interview); All language levels accommodated (i.e. no German - fluent speaker); GPA (CU prerequisite: 2.5)
