Program Description:

FLPA UTAH
Iconic Landscapes and Communication – Exploring National Parks 

Utah
Spend three weeks in Zion and Bryce Canyon national parks.   Take two courses for a total of six credits.  Courses will focus on how environmental communication impacts our experiences in national parks and has consequences for US national identity. As part of a Faculty-Led Domestic Travel (FLDT) program, the COM/EVS 476 course will investigate how communication about national parks reveals historical tensions and power struggles. Additionally, it will give students a chance to study communication within national parks in situ so that they will better understand how communication in these setting operates.

The COM 472 class will examine the role of communication in various close relationships (e.g., family, friendships, romantic relationships, park staff, locals) in connection with national.
