Program Description:

Rome, Italy is known as the "Eternal City". It is a historic metropolis where students can discover Italian culture and language and walk in the paths of emperors, popes, artists, and saints.  Encounter the universal Church and take part in Catholic celebrations with pilgrims from around the word. Foster creativity, adaptability, and independence as you immerse yourself and become a Roman student.  Be in daily awe of your ancient classroom by taking unique courses not offered at CU.

John Cabot University (JCU) is an American liberal arts institution located in the Trastevere district of Rome.  The University is centrally located and within walking distance from historical landmarks and bustling piazzas.  Approximately 1200 students are enrolled each semester, with about half the population consisting of visiting study abroad students like you.

Academics and Coursework
Students are required to take a minimum of 12 credit hours (typically 4 courses) while at John Cabot University.  Nursing students must enroll in four courses as well as two online Nursing courses at Creighton.  Courses in Italian language, Italian studies, art history, and classics are recommended. There are a wide variety of courses to choose from; please be sure that your course needs match the offerings at JCU.

To view courses at JCU
Click the term (Spring or Fall) that you are interested in studying abroad to check out classes typically offered that semester.
From Fall 2018 onward, courses taken while studying abroad will transfer back to Creighton University with a letter grade.  These grades will be factored into your Creighton GPA.  Grade equivalency charts will be published on the study abroad website in early 2018 to help you understand how the grade abroad will reflect on your Creighton transcript.  This change is in contrast to the former "Pass/Fail" grade policy.

On-Site Assistance
The International Office at John Cabot University will support you throughout your stay. Prior to the beginning of each semester, they also host a one-week mandatory orientation to the university and city.

There is a mandatory, one-week orientation prior to the start of each semester at John Cabot University.  See the schedules below:

Service opportunities can be found on the John Cabot website.
